In spite of all the pool safety warnings issued each year, we still hear tragic stories of children falling victim to drowning accidents. Accidents, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says, could help be prevented by using a pool safety fence.

According to the CPSC and their Pool Safely campaign partner, the Home Safety Council (HSC), 172 children younger than 15 died in drowning accidents during the 2010 summer swimming season. While that figure is down from the average 200 children that drown during the same time each year, it's small consolation to the families impacted by such a loss.

The CPSC and HSC are calling for parents, families and caregivers to make pool safety and supervision a priority. In addition to attentive adult supervision, one of the simplest steps to creating a safe environment for your child around the pool is by installing a pool safety fence.
